- Not quite single tasking... If you look at things that way then even PMT
- machines are single-tasking as they are only ever running one task on the
- CPU at one time. Anyway, my printing, big renders etc. all run in the
- background, what more do I want to multi-task?

-
- Whether the clones are faster or not is debatable, and they certainly won't be
- in a couple of months.
-
- As for the argument about software... well from what I can see (I own a
- Commodore and Acorn machine), the Acorn software in several areas -- bitmap
- editing, photo retouching, music publishing --- easily equals or eclipses
- that of the Amiga.
-
- Just I have one and have grown quite fond of it, I suggest all concerned
- have an *objective* unbiased look, rather than simply slagging something
- off because it's not "my platform."
-
- The only reason I posted to this group is because i thought people may be
- interested in getting some hardware (for which there is _plenty_ of software)
- that is something original --- like the Amiga was, rather than just another
- boring PC clone or Mac.
-
- I suggest an objective look that may be of benefit to other readers of this
- group, as it seems to most Amiga users the platform isn't going anywhere
- very quickly and will soon go-the-way-of-the-Atari... so no flames please,
- as what computer is best is always in the eye of the beholder so there is
- no point in trying to enforce opinion.
-
- Try sitting down and using one (OK they may be expensive) for a couple of days;
- the UI is really slick, feels *fast* (much faster than a 133MHz Pentium/95 --
- my computer appears to be able to load JPEGS into memory without decompressing
- them, and just decompress them "on the fly" when drawing to the screen, coo
- it loks impressive) you might just be impressed.
-
